Inside my sketchbook....

Lately, I have been doing some sketching for new designs for prints and cards... Ive done some fish designs (the one below is just one design) and also some crazy looking owls... all lots of fun to create, but mostly I am looking at doing designs that aren't so girly/pretty, and may be more boy/male orientated....harder than it looks I can tell you!  I am trying so hard, but I am tempted to  throw in some pink or cutesy, girly thing (so easy to do 'girly') designs.... of course some will be just good for cards and others possibly for both greeting cards and prints.  I will have to see....Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  I use watercolours/ink and the look I am going for is simple with not necessarily perfect lines etc.  If you see anything you like in any of my post you can message me to order prints/cards on juliemryder01@gmail.com   A4/8 x 10 inch prints $18.00 plus delivery $4 Australia/$9 International.  A3 size prints $35.00 plus delivery $9.50 Australia/$18 International.

My cards are 5 x 7 inch (when folded), blank inside, packs of 3 are $15, packs of 5 are $25 plus delivery costs.  

Watercolour fun....

I have been having such fun messing around with my watercolours/ink...I am trying out some new ideas (new background too) for prints and cards.  These are some that I have come up with.  I have handpainted and drawn all of these then manipulated them digitally.  I could fool around with photoshop for hours!!  Stay tuned as I might have these and others available soon.  They can all be made into prints and cards. (with or without words/quotes etc too).

BELOW:  This is my standard card design (5 x 7 inch when folded).  The front of the card is on the left and the back is on the righthand side (has a smaller picture plus info about me).

Below:  This floral cross is lovely for Christening cards/prints, Sympathy cards, Religious sacrament momento's and cards too.

More Altered Playing Cards....

Just thought I would post more of my altered playing cards that Ive been doing.  These are very easy to do and are becoming quite addictive!!  Im able to use up some of my embellishments that Ive got left lying around, like stickers etc.  Hope you enjoy them also.  I am offering workshops in my Jerrabomberra Studio if  you are interested. cheers Julie.

Altered Playing Cards....

The other day I was browsing through Pinterest (Looove Pinterest) looking to be inspired, and I came across the idea for creating some mixed media art using a deck of playing cards.  Now, we have heaps of old playing cards, as my youngest had a thing for them at one time, so I new there would be some laying around.  Anyway...I thought I would start altering my own deck.  So easy, quick and fun too!  I think I might make these my Affirmation Cards...I can keep them as a deck to look through or even use them in my journal books etc.

Above:  An old deck we got when we went to the States and stayed at San Fransisco.  These ones have some lovely  memories!

Above: First get some gesso and paint a few of them.....This is the worst part as they take ages to dry!  So make sure you do a few at a time!

Above: I had recently made my own stickers using parts of some of my abstract paintings!  Cool hey! (The are the semi circle bits on them).  I love an inspiring quote or affirmation too! I really just slapped some paint on and maybe stencilled something on too.  Something quick and easy. 

 Above: More paint, stamps, stickers I made (these were ones I just made from digital papers) and a butterfly.  Love my butterflies!

Above:  Again, I cut my handmade stickers in half, some paint, stamp, butterfly and a word.

Moonshadow....

Good evening...

Today, one of my latest artworks, 'Moonshadow', went off to its forever home!   This mixed media piece was painted with acrylics, glitter glue, metallic paint and papers...It measured 16 x 20 inch.  

Recently Ive been painting quite a bit using the colours purples, mauves and blues...which makes a lovely change from the colour pink (and aqua!) which I always seem to be drawn to!  I know I have quite a few purple lovers out there, and most artworks that I paint with purple predominantly in them, seem to sell quite well.
